The story goes as i heard as a child & the most popular is the Capt.Kidd story.

Captain Kidd (Captain William Kidd ) a famous pirate sailed the coast of
NA/Caribbean/Indian Oceans, plundering ships. It is said he buried his treasure off of NS, on Oak Island. He visited this area often to relax and mend his ships.

There is also the connections with William Shakespeare/ Sir Francis Bacon ( M16/M15/007) - (theory is based a piece of parchment paper brought up from the money pit)

Another theory is the crown jewels of France that went missing in 1791 where smuggled to Louisburg & because of the war between French & English they where ported to Oak Island.

& yet another theory -which they all seem to have one thing in common ;)

Is Henry Sinclair Earl of Orkney & the connections to King Soloman & the Templar's http://sinclair-clan.blogspot.com/2007/ ... night.html

I can remember as a kid, i wanted to explore this island but, it was gated & still is to this day with a beautiful NO TRESPASSING sign ;(

Some history connections..
Franklin D. Roosevelt, a former US President, whose company Old Gold Salvage group searched in 1909
Errol Flynn (actor) who wanted to search Oak Island in 1940, but was discouraged when he found the search rights belonged to a company owned by fellow actor John Wayne

to date, almost 200 feet deep, protected by an elaborate set of booby traps (underground channels to an ocean beach over 500 feet away), has been the subject of countless excavations since 1795, costing millions of dollars, and the death place of six treasure hunters, and they still haven’t found the treasure * plus much more  will have to add later..

OH wow, i went out to google to see what i could dig up on Sinclair connections...
i love how this stuff finds me... . i haven't thought of the island till a few days ago when i revisit John Coleman's work http://www.vortexmaps.com/novascotia/ for a NS map ley lines/ he also connects Egypt/oak island/Mi'kmaq Hieroglyphics

Reading over Johns site...http://www.vortexmaps.com/novascotia/page2.html he makes some interesting points about the geometric forms, intersections & connections to Plymouth Rock/ Washington D.C./ Montauk, connection with the Scotland Knight's Templar St. Claire {Sinclair} family/ Roslin/ naming convention here in NS, are all involved with the larger geometry

"The idea of the earth as a geometric shape goes back in history at least to the Pythagorean school of thinking in ancient Greece. Its famous adherent, Plato, wrote that ‘the earth, viewed from above, resembles a ball sewn from twelve pieces of skin.’" Christopher Bird.
