Dark Crystal's Skesis & The Missing Link

The Dark Crystal makes a return in 2011, with the Power of the Dark Crystal. This is also great timing, considering they just found the "missing link"

Fossil Ida: extraordinary find is 'missing link' in human evolution.

"Perfectly preserved fossil Ida, unveiled in New York today, provides unprecedented insight into our ancestry"
IDA WAS just 58cm (23inches) long and nine-months-old when she died 47 million years ago, but scientists are confident the cat-like creature is the common ancestor of all primates. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/world/2009/0521/1224247034331.html
If u grew up in the 80's like I did, then u know what a Skesis is. The Dark Crystal is a cult classic, so when the story came out above one cant help but think the fossil above & the Skesis/Mystic looks similar.

Thra has three suns; the Great Sun, the Rose Sun, and the Dying Sun. Many creatures and races inhabit the planet, but the dominant race is the urSkeks, ...

One thousand years before the beginning of the movie, during the Great Conjunction of the three suns, the urSkeks cracked the Crystal of Truth, and split into two races; the hunchbacked, gentle beings known as urRu or "Mystics" and the vulture-like tyrants known as Skeksis.

In that moment the Crystal became the Dark Crystal.

The Skeksis then drove the urRu from the castle where the cracked crystal resided and instituted a reign of terror over their world.

Their wrath was particularly directed toward the elf-like Gelflings, due to a prophecy that promised the restoration of the crystal and the end of the Skeksis' power.
