'Hobbit Skull finds Hobbit is not Human'In an analysis of the size, shape and asymmetry of the cranium of Homo floresiensis, Karen Baab, Ph.D., a researcher in the Department of Anatomical Scienes at Stony Brook University, and colleagues conclude that the fossil, found in Indonesia in 2003 and known as the “Hobbit,” is not human. They used 3-D shape analysis to study the LB1 skull of the hobbit and found the shape of the skull to be consistent with a scaled down human ancestor but not modern humans. The setting was a hidden island filled with pint-size men who feasted on pygmy elephants and battled dragons. The story of paleontology's "Hobbits," the extinct human species called Homo floresiensis, packs plenty of drama.
The undersize bones inside Liang Bua cave on the Indonesian island of Flores has long also suffered from a modern-day human rivalry. Some scientist suggest microcephaly -which results in abnormal growth of the brain and causes the cranium to be much smaller. Others claim it to be a distance relative or unique species of humo.

The wrist

According to Nova, the wrist bone was more triangular - like a monkey. Which made little sense... If that was the case, then how was the 'hobbit' able to make precise tools found at the site. Nova went on to explain that the 'hobbit' had advanced knowledge of the geometries involved in making tools. How would flint napping be possible if her grip was close to a monkey, or even as precise as they say?
Another thing that caught my attention is her 'not so' little brain. I would like to offer my explanation to who I think floresiensis was according to the front region of Homo floresiensis brain & geometry of the skull.
Nova had brief explanation to why this area was over developed. - as the intuition of floresiensis was more advanced -they hunted in groups around the Island for pigmy elephants. I feel this is the key to understanding where she came from.

Results of dipole source localization in the human cortex for EEG data recorded from subjects performing Bhramari Pranayama (BP). It has been suggested that the BP is able to produce neuronal change and thus level of consciousness of the human brain. The EEG signal recorded over the surface of the scalp is the result of the synchronized activities of neurons in the cortex. It is the combination of such neuronal oscillators that results into different spontaneous cognitive activities of the brain. Thus finding the locations of such neuronal sources in the cortex is important and can be performed using source localization techniques. The source identification was performed on band-passed (0-35 Hz and 35 Hz to 80 Hz) EEG data for both the pre-BP and BP conditions.
